Dr. Nivedita Priya
Dr. Nivedita Priya is a dedicated academician and researcher with a Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry from the Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, University of Delhi. Her primary research expertise lies in drug discovery, particularly antiplatelet agents, with a strong focus on platelet aggregation mechanisms, thrombotic disorders, and the biochemical pathways involved in vascular dysfunction, such as COX enzymes, nitric oxide synthases (iNOS, eNOS), and thrombokinase activity. Her innovative work has contributed to the development and patenting of potential antithrombotic agents.
She has also gained experience in molecular biology and protein biochemistry, including the expression and purification of sporozoite proteins (e.g., TRAP-A) using mammalian and bacterial systems, through her work at ICGEB under Dr. Amit Sharma. Dr. Priya’s multidisciplinary approach spans enzymology, pharmacological screening, cell culture, and animal model studies.
In her academic role, she is actively involved in postgraduate education, guiding MSc dissertations in Clinical Biochemistry on topics such as chronic kidney disease, insulin resistance, and autoimmune hypothyroidism. Her teaching, coordination, and administrative work are complemented by her participation in national workshops and skill conclaves.
Dr. Priya has authored multiple research papers in reputed journals like Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, Journal of Biochemistry, and Biochemie, and has received prestigious research fellowships from CSIR and DSIR. Her dynamic research contributions, combined with her commitment to education and diagnostics, make her a versatile professional in the field of biomedical science.
